What the heck am I doing in China?
I get asked that question all the time -- by friends, acquaintances, coworkers, family, and even myself. After two weeks already in China, I'm still unable to fully register the miracle that I'm here right now in such an interesting and exciting corner of the world.
So here’s what the heck I'm doing in China. I thought it was about time I assured my family that -- despite many close run-ins with reckless ebike riders and angry taxi drivers -- I'm still alive and I haven't fallen off the face of the planet.

Yes, I'm okay -- wonderful, actually. I've been out and about on weekend and weeknight excursions with fellow Stanford students also interning in Shanghai for the summer. Last weekend we took a train to Suzhou, popularly known as "the Venice of the East." Life at home is going well, too; my coworker Amit and I are [surprisingly] succeeding at "adulting," and we manage to cook our own meals almost every night, finishing dinner just in time to go to the gym before it closes at 10pm.
In most recent happenings: Friday-evening festivities, a weekend trip to Suzhou, and a Monday Stanford get-together. Friends, canals, and photo-ops and excessive amounts of hot pot, streetside food, and bar grafitti were involved.

Not even these awesome photos can do the weekend justice.
